Michael began his international career in education in 2001 with a move to Spain where he taught for four years. After that, he gained valuable experience as a teacher in numerous schools around the globe in England, the Syrian Arab Republic, Lebanon and South Korea.

Upon returning to the UK in 2010, Michael taught in a primary school for two years. Later, he was a pre-sessional tutor, preparing foreign postgraduate studentsfor postgraduate study in England. In 2013, Michael made Malaysia his home. Highlights of his experience here include the positions of teacher, trainer of Englishand Pro-ELT Coordinator. As a Pro-ELT Coordinator, he managed and supported trainers in planning anddelivering English language and teaching methodologytraining to Malaysian primary and secondary school teachers.

Michael brought his leadership, wealth of experience and expertise to Lorna Whiston in 2016. A passionate educator, Michael shares his love of literature and writing with his students.

Amy is originally from South Africa and has eight years’ experience in Language Education. Her passion for stories, storytelling and the English language led her to complete her Undergraduate and Honours degrees in English and Language Practice respectively.

Amy believes that every child should be enticed into the magical worlds of reading, storytelling and performance in order to develop their language abilities and life skills.

In 2009, Brendan began his international teaching career as a Form & Subject Teacher in Singapore for two years, before gaining additional experience teaching English in Vietnam. Later, Brendan taught adult international students in the Australian vocational education sector before being hired as the Teacher Librarian and a Part-time Music School Administrator in Melbourne.

In 2016, Brendan made Malaysia his home, bringing his breadth of experience to our students at Lorna Whiston.

Since qualifying, Clare has taught in a range of schools and educational settings such as state and private schools, language schools and charity organisations. She has over 7 years’ experience of teaching from the ages of 3 up to adults aged 21. Highlights include her role as the Head of Drama, managing the creation of a new drama department in a brand-new school from 2011 – 2014.

Clare thoroughly enjoys the variety and opportunities that teaching offers to support students from an array of different backgrounds and countries. Her students quickly catch her enthusiasm for Speech & Drama, and encourages them to be fluent, effective, and confident communicators.

Jill started her career in education teaching adults in Hiroshima, Japan. It was here that she realised her life's calling before returning to Hawaii to care for her grandmother, who was Jill's inspiration and role model in life. In Chiang Mai, Thailand, Jill further built on her effective teaching strategies and techniques for teaching children. Jill also taught ESL at a local primary school before teaching in South Korea for a year.

Jill hopes to instill compassion in her students at Lorna Whiston through the literature that's explored in the classroom so they can build a better tomorrow.

Samia began her career as an English teacher in 2007 in South Korea and has since then gained extensive experience teaching language and literature to primary, secondary and adult students from a variety of countries and backgrounds. She spent some time freelancing as a writer and editor, and teaching in Camodia.

After moving back to South Africa, she co-facilitated an educational outreach project and was a Senior English as a Foreign Language (EFL) Teacher.

In 2017, Samia joined the Lorna Whiston team in Malaysia, bringing her love and passion for writing and education with her!

Sandra had a bilingual upbringing in English and German and has always been very passionate about languages and language learning. She began her career in education in 2006 when she taught adults and children in Germany. Here, she gained a lot of experience leading private and group language classes in order to prepare them for school exams, university and business.

After spending five years as a team manager at a prominent bank in England, Sandra made the move to Malaysia. Sandra joined the Lorna Whiston team in 2017. As a nurturing educator, she extends her passion for English to her students.

Yvonne has over fourteen years of experience working with children in schools in England where she has performed multiple roles. Since moving to Malaysia in 2010, Yvonne has acquired extensive skills and experience educating children as well as adults.

Yvonne is passionate about teaching and strives to create a classroom environment conducive to learning, so students can be actively involved and enjoy what they are being taught.
