Public Speaking Programme
Being able to communicate with others effectively and with confidence is too important a skill to be left to chance.
Confidence starts with Language(4 year olds)
At Lorna Whiston, we have nurtured students to find their voice in the English language since 1980.
Language Development A (4 year olds)
Our Language Development A children are gently encouraged to become more independent and to develop self-help skills that will help them to become more effective learners. They are encouraged to take turns, show kindness to others and share with their friends.
Intensive EAL (English as an Additional Language)
Our intensive EAL programme aims to lay the foundation for the use of the English language. Students soon develop the self-confidence to use English to communicate both verbally and in writing, and they quickly pick up a broad vocabulary and a better knowledge of the grammar and structure of the English language.
Advanced Language for 14 year olds
Our motivating Advanced Language 2 programme successfully develops students' language skills in reading comprehension, speaking and writing.
Speech & Drama for 11 and 12 year olds
By Speech and Drama 5 and Speech and Drama 6 students are learning how to structure persuasive speech and individual presentations.
English as an Additional Language (EAL)
These EAL classes are conducted once a week and are aimed at students who have had little exposure to English outside of a classroom and therefore require a greater vocabulary and grammar focus to enable them to become confident and fluent English Language users.
Language Development C for 6 year olds
This programme continues to use books and stories to engage the children and as a stimulus for developing their speaking, listening, reading and writing.
Public Speaking (10 to 12 year olds)
Our Public Speaking programmes are designed to help students of differing levels of confidence and ability develop in self-esteem and communication in the English language.
